Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Civil Pipe Layer Assistant to join our growing team in Glenorchy for ongoing infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in civil construction with no prior experience required. Full training will be provided to help you develop the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in this dynamic role. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to the installation and maintenance of vital water, sewer, and stormwater pipe systems, ensuring our communities have robust and reliable infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced pipe layers with the installation of various types of pipes (e.g., PVC, concrete, ductile iron).
- Prepare trenches and work areas, including digging, shoring, and backfilling.
- Handle and move pipes, fittings, and other construction materials safely.
- Operate hand tools and basic power tools under supervision.
- Maintain a clean and organised work site.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Support the team with general labouring tasks as required.
- Assist with the setup and dismantling of work zones.
Required Skills
- White Card (Construction Induction Card) – essential for working on Australian construction sites.
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all site protocols.
- Reliable transport to and from the Glenorchy work site.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Australian Driver's License (manual preferred).
- Basic understanding of construction site environments.
- Experience operating basic machinery (e.g., plate compactors, jackhammers) – training will be provided for specific equipment.
- First Aid certification.
