Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and detail-oriented Admissions Essay Reviewers to join our team for the upcoming seasonal peak. This is a fully remote, temporary position where you will play a crucial role in helping prospective students refine their college and graduate school application essays. You will provide constructive feedback on clarity, grammar, style, and overall effectiveness, guiding applicants to present their best selves. This role offers the flexibility of remote work and the opportunity to make a significant impact on students’ educational journeys.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and provide comprehensive, constructive feedback on admissions essays (personal statements, statements of purpose, supplementary essays).
- Assess essays for grammar, syntax, punctuation, spelling, clarity, coherence, and argumentative strength.
- Offer insights on content development, thematic consistency, and effective storytelling.
- Ensure feedback is sensitive, encouraging, and actionable for applicants.
- Adhere to project guidelines, deadlines, and quality standards.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all applicant information and essay content.
Required Skills
- Exceptional written communication and command of the English language.
- Superior editing, proofreading, and grammatical expertise.
- Keen attention to detail and ability to identify subtle nuances in writing.
- Strong ability to provide constructive and empathetic feedback.
- Proficiency with word processing software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Google Docs).
- Reliable internet connection and a conducive home office environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Creative Writing, or a related humanities field.
- At least 1 year of experience in academic writing, editing, tutoring, or admissions consulting.
- Familiarity with the college or graduate school admissions process and essay requirements.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
- Understanding of various essay types (e.g., narrative, argumentative, expository).
