Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented individual to join our Council Mapping Department as a GIS Data Entry specialist. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate looking to start a career in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with comprehensive training provided. You will be responsible for accurately inputting, updating, and maintaining geographical data within our GIS databases, contributing to the foundational spatial data that supports various council services.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately input and update geographic data, attributes, and features into the council's GIS database from various sources (e.g., aerial imagery, survey data, planning documents).
- Perform quality control checks on entered data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established standards.
- Organise and manage spatial datasets, ensuring proper documentation and version control.
- Assist in the preparation of maps, reports, and data visualisations for internal departments.
- Collaborate with other team members to resolve data discrepancies and improve data management processes.
- Learn and apply new GIS software functionalities and data entry techniques as required.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of all data processed.
