Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated and compassionate individuals to join our team as a 911 / 999 Emergency Dispatch Trainee. This is an entry-level position that offers comprehensive, fully paid training to equip you with the essential skills needed to excel in this crucial role. As an Emergency Dispatcher, you will be the first point of contact for citizens experiencing emergencies, requiring a calm demeanor, quick thinking, and exceptional communication skills. You will learn to assess situations, prioritize calls, and dispatch appropriate resources, playing a pivotal role in saving lives and protecting property in Weyburn and surrounding areas. No prior experience in emergency dispatch is required; we provide all the necessary training.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize incoming emergency and non-emergency calls from the public.
- Gather critical information from callers to accurately assess the nature and severity of incidents.
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical personnel to emergency scenes efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of calls, dispatches, and incident details using specialized computer systems.
- Provide clear and concise pre-arrival instructions to callers when necessary.
- Coordinate effectively with various emergency services agencies and internal departments.
- Remain calm, composed, and reassuring while assisting callers in distress.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and protocols established by Emergency Services.
