Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Airfield Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of airfield operations at Gatwick Airport. This critical role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the airfield, managing a team of operations officers and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining operational standards, responding to incidents, and contributing to strategic planning to enhance airfield performance and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead the airfield operations team, ensuring high standards of performance and safety.
- Oversee daily airfield inspections, identifying and resolving any potential hazards or compliance issues.
- Ensure strict adherence to all aviation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Coordinate with air traffic control, airlines, ground handling agents, and other airport departments to maintain efficient operations.
- Respond effectively to all airfield incidents, emergencies, and adverse weather conditions, implementing appropriate protocols.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of operational procedures, safety management systems, and emergency plans.
- Conduct regular audits and drills to assess operational readiness and compliance.
- Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively.
- Provide training and development opportunities for the airfield operations team.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in airfield operations management within a busy airport environment.
- Strong understanding of ICAO, EASA, and CAA regulations pertaining to aerodrome operations.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in incident management and emergency response protocols.
- Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic 24/7 operational environment.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Aviation Management, Airport Operations, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Aerodrome Operations Certificate).
- Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) implementation and auditing.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations impacting airport operations.
