Job Description
Are you an enthusiastic individual eager to start your career in drafting and design? Mount Isa Mines is offering an exceptional entry-level opportunity for a Junior Draftsperson (Cadet) to join our engineering team. This role is perfect for someone with a keen eye for detail, a passion for technical drawing, and a desire to learn from industry experts. You will receive comprehensive mentorship and hands-on training in AutoCAD and Revit, working on real-world projects within a large-scale mining environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior draftspersons and engineers in preparing detailed technical drawings and plans using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Learn and apply company drafting standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Convert sketches, specifications, and design data into accurate CAD drawings.
- Maintain and update existing drawing registers and documentation.
- Collaborate with various engineering disciplines to ensure drawing accuracy and completeness.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance drafting software proficiency.
- Conduct basic site visits for data collection and drawing verification as required.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Support the team with general administrative tasks related to drafting projects.
Required Skills
- Strong desire to learn and develop a career in drafting.
- Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a structured environment.
- A genuine interest in engineering, design, and technical drawing.
- No prior professional experience in drafting is required; full training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of Year 12 or equivalent.
- Enrolment or completion of a Certificate or Diploma in Engineering Drafting, CAD, or a related technical field is a plus, but not essential.
- Any prior exposure to AutoCAD or Revit (e.g., in school projects or personal interest) would be advantageous, but not mandatory.
