Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced AO5 Project Lead to join our dynamic team within the Environmental Protection Agency. This crucial role involves leading and managing environmental projects from conception to completion, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and contributing to the achievement of our strategic environmental objectives. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and implementing initiatives that safeguard Victoria’s natural assets and communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of assigned environmental protection projects.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to ensure successful delivery.
- Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and community groups.
- Prepare and present comprehensive project reports, briefs, and recommendations to senior management.
- Ensure all project activities comply with relevant environmental legislation, policies, and standards.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, developing effective solutions.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management methodologies and processes within the agency.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in project management, preferably within an environmental or public sector context.
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation, policies, and regulatory frameworks in Australia, particularly Victoria.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, resources, and timelines effectively.
- Analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a focus on practical outcomes.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Public Policy, or a related discipline.
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
- Experience working within a government agency setting.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal cultural heritage management principles.
