Job Description
Reading Museum is offering an exciting entry-level internship opportunity for individuals passionate about arts and culture. The Arts Administration Intern will gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of a busy museum and gallery, providing essential administrative support and contributing to various projects. This role is designed for someone with little to no prior experience, offering comprehensive training and mentorship to develop foundational skills in arts administration, museum management, and public engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with general administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, and correspondence.
- Support the planning and execution of museum events, workshops, and exhibitions.
- Contribute to visitor services, including greeting guests and assisting with inquiries.
- Help with basic collection management duties under supervision, such as inventory checks and documentation.
- Conduct preliminary research for exhibitions, educational programs, or marketing initiatives.
- Support marketing and communications efforts, including social media scheduling and content creation.
- Attend departmental meetings and contribute to discussions where appropriate.
Required Skills
- Genuine interest in arts, culture, museums, or galleries.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
