Job Description
As an Athletic Training & Kinesiology Intern, you will be an integral part of our rehabilitation clinic team. This internship is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to the daily operations of a sports medicine and rehabilitation environment. You will support our athletic trainers, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care. This entry-level role is perfect for someone with little to no prior experience, offering extensive learning opportunities and mentorship to develop foundational skills in a clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist athletic trainers and physical therapists with patient setup and preparation for treatment sessions.
- Observe and learn various therapeutic exercises, modalities, and rehabilitation techniques.
- Support clinic operations, including maintaining equipment cleanliness, organizing treatment areas, and stocking supplies.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as patient scheduling, record keeping, and general office support.
- Learn and adhere to all clinic safety protocols and patient privacy regulations (HIPAA).
- Participate in educational sessions and case discussions to enhance clinical knowledge.
- Engage with patients in a professional and supportive manner under direct supervision.
Required Skills
- Strong interest in athletic training, kinesiology, physical therapy, or related health sciences.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively in a team environment.
- Reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Therapy, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Previous volunteer experience in a healthcare or sports setting is a plus, but not required.
