Job Description

Are you passionate about understanding human behavior in high-stakes environments? QinetiQ is offering an exciting internship opportunity for an Aviation Psychology & Human Factors Intern to join our innovative team in Canterbury. This entry-level position is designed for an enthusiastic individual looking to gain hands-on experience in applying psychological principles and human factors methodologies to aviation systems and operations. You will support ongoing research projects, data collection, and analysis under the guidance of experienced professionals, contributing to the enhancement of safety, efficiency, and human-system integration in the aerospace domain. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in literature reviews and background research on aviation psychology and human factors topics.
  • Support the design and execution of experiments, simulations, and observational studies.
  • Aid in the collection, organization, and preliminary analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Contribute to the development of research protocols, questionnaires, and interview guides.
  • Prepare summaries, reports, and presentations of research findings.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions.
  • Learn to apply human factors principles to real-world aviation challenges.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed project documentation.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Psychology, Human Factors, Cognitive Science, Ergonomics, or a related field.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A keen interest in aviation and human performance.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of research methodologies and statistical analysis.

  • Prior exposure to human factors concepts or aviation environments (e.g., through coursework, personal interest, or clubs).
