Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Avionics Technician to join our dynamic team in Manchester. As an Avionics Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of complex avionics systems on a variety of aircraft platforms. Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft avionics systems, including communication, navigation, radar, and flight control systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical and electronic faults using specialized test equipment and technical manuals.
- Carry out repairs, modifications, and component replacements in accordance with aircraft maintenance manuals and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct functional tests and operational checks of avionics systems to ensure proper functionality.
- Document all maintenance activities accurately and completely in maintenance logs and computer systems.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company procedures, and aviation regulations (e.g., EASA, CAA).
- Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to resolve technical issues and improve maintenance processes.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay current with evolving avionics technology and systems.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Avionics Technician or in a similar aerospace maintenance role.
- Strong understanding of aircraft electrical and electronic systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with various test equipment used in avionics troubleshooting (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers).
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Aeronautical engineering degree, avionics diploma, or equivalent technical qualification.
- EASA Part-66 B2 license or equivalent national certification.
- Experience with specific aircraft types relevant to BAE Systems' operations.
- Knowledge of advanced avionics systems such as integrated modular avionics (IMA) or fly-by-wire controls.
- Previous experience working in a military or commercial aviation maintenance organization.
