Job Description
Join GSK as a Backend Engineer specializing in Java and Spring Boot. We are seeking a talented individual to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and high-performance backend systems that power our critical healthcare applications. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Collaborate with product managers, front-end developers, and other stakeholders to define and implement new features and system enhancements.
- Participate in code reviews, ensuring code quality, maintainability, and adherence to architectural best practices and coding standards.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance across various environments.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, internal security policies, and data privacy standards.
- Mentor junior developers and share knowledge within the team to foster a collaborative learning environment.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Java development (Java 8+).
- Strong experience with the Spring Boot framework and its ecosystem.
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and development.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORM frameworks (e.g., Hibernate, JPA).
- Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an ability to debug complex issues.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a proactive approach to collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Understanding of healthcare industry standards or regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) is a plus.
