Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Barrister to join our thriving chambers-equivalent practice within Irwin Mitchell in Sheffield. The successful candidate will be instrumental in providing expert legal advice, advocacy, and representation across a range of specialisms, contributing significantly to our clients’ success and the firm’s reputation. This is an exciting opportunity for a Barrister seeking to leverage their expertise within a modern, forward-thinking law firm structure, focusing on complex legal challenges and high-profile cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing expert legal advice to clients, solicitors, and other legal professionals.
- Drafting complex legal documents, pleadings, and opinions.
- Representing clients in court, tribunals, and other dispute resolution forums.
- Conducting thorough legal research and analysis.
- Engaging in negotiation and mediation to achieve favourable client outcomes.
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Mentoring junior legal staff and contributing to internal training initiatives.
- Staying abreast of legal developments and changes in relevant legislation.
Required Skills
- Called to the Bar of England and Wales
- Minimum of 3 years' post-pupillage experience as a practicing Barrister
- Proven track record of successful advocacy in various legal settings
- Exceptional analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- High degree of professional integrity and ethical conduct
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a specific practice area relevant to our firm's needs (e.g., commercial litigation, personal injury, family law)
- Previous experience working within a large law firm or a well-regarded chambers
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development
- Existing client following or a proven ability to develop new business
