Job Description
Are you passionate about lighting and eager to start a career in the dynamic world of live events? PRG UK is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Lighting Technician (Trainee) to join our team in Brighton. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals with little to no prior experience in lighting technology. We believe in nurturing talent and will provide comprehensive on-the-job training, allowing you to learn from industry experts and develop a robust skill set. You will assist our senior technicians in setting up, operating, and maintaining lighting equipment for various productions, gaining invaluable practical experience. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior lighting technicians with the setup, rigging, and dismantling of lighting equipment at various event sites.
- Learn to operate lighting consoles and associated software under supervision.
- Support in the maintenance and repair of lighting fixtures, cables, and accessories.
- Load and unload equipment from trucks and prepare gear for transport.
- Follow safety protocols and company guidelines meticulously.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the warehouse and on-site.
- Attend training sessions and actively seek to expand knowledge of lighting technology and techniques.
- Provide general technical support as needed to ensure smooth event execution.
Required Skills
- Eagerness to learn and a strong interest in lighting technology and live events.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 25kg) and work at heights.
- Basic understanding of electrical safety (or willingness to learn immediately).
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules.
- Full UK driving license (or willingness to obtain one) is advantageous for future career progression.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with hand tools or basic technical assembly.
- A foundational understanding of stage production or event technology.
- Experience in a customer service role, demonstrating good communication skills.
- Relevant vocational training or a related college course (though not required for this trainee role).
