Job Description
We are looking for diligent and physically capable individuals to join our team as a Bus Cargo Loader in Wimbledon. This role is crucial for ensuring that passenger bags and cargo are safely and efficiently loaded and stowed onto our coaches, adhering to strict safety protocols and operational timelines. This is a hands-on, shift-based position that requires reliability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. Full training will be provided to ensure you are confident and competent in all aspects of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload passenger luggage, parcels, and cargo onto and off coaches in a timely manner.
- Ensure all items are stowed securely and safely in designated compartments to prevent damage or shifting during transit.
- Verify cargo against manifests or instructions to ensure correct loading and unloading procedures.
- Operate basic loading equipment (e.g., trolleys, pallet jacks) as required.
- Maintain a clean and organised loading bay area.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety guidelines and operational procedures.
- Communicate effectively with drivers and supervisors regarding loading status or issues.
- Perform duties efficiently within a shift-work schedule, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to lift and carry heavy luggage (up to 25kg) repeatedly.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate cargo handling and stowage.
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for shift work schedules.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols in a transport or loading environment.
- Good communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physically demanding role, such as warehouse, logistics, or baggage handling.
- Familiarity with manual handling techniques.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
