Job Description

The City of Pointe-Claire is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our Canal & Waterway Maintenance Crew. This outdoor government role is perfect for those who enjoy physical work, value environmental preservation, and want to contribute to their community. As a vital part of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the city’s beautiful canals, rivers, and drainage systems, ensuring they remain clean, safe, and accessible for all residents. This is an entry-level position where full training will be provided, making it an excellent opportunity to start a career in public service and outdoor maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning and removal of debris, litter, and vegetation from canals, waterways, and their banks.
  • Assist with minor repairs to waterway infrastructure, including pathways, railings, and signs.
  • Operate and maintain various hand tools and light power equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor water levels and quality, reporting any unusual observations or issues to supervisors.
  • Participate in seasonal maintenance tasks such as winterizing and spring clean-up operations.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations during work activities.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to complete projects efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (Quebec).

  • First Aid and CPR certification.
