Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Car Carrier Trailer Loader (Mate) to join our operations in Carshalton. This entry-level role is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of vehicles onto our specialized car carrier trailers. As a Mate, you will work closely with our experienced drivers, assisting with all aspects of vehicle handling, securing loads, and guiding traffic as needed. Full training will be provided to the right candidate who demonstrates a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety. This role involves physical activity, outdoor work, and precision in handling valuable cargo. Key Responsibilities
- Assist drivers with the safe and efficient loading and unloading of various vehicles onto car carrier trailers.
- Operate loading ramps, winches, and other equipment as required, under supervision.
- Secure vehicles on trailers using straps, chains, and other securing devices in accordance with safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-loading and post-unloading inspections of vehicles for damage.
- Direct traffic and guide vehicles safely during loading and unloading procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, including equipment and trailers.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as relevant traffic regulations.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, dispatch, and other team members.
- Travel with drivers to various locations as part of daily operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and meticulously.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift, push, and pull vehicles/equipment as needed.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of vehicle types and models (training provided).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manual labor or outdoor work environment.
- Familiarity with basic vehicle operations.
- A full UK driving license (desirable but not essential for this Mate role).
