Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Carpet Tear-Out Laborer! This entry-level position is perfect for individuals who are physically fit, reliable, and eager to contribute to home renovation projects. You will be responsible for the essential first step in many renovations: removing old carpeting and preparing sites for new flooring installations. No prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive on-the-job training to ensure you gain the skills needed to succeed. This role offers a great opportunity to learn about the renovation industry from the ground up and be part of a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently remove old carpeting, underpad, and tack strips from various residential and commercial properties.
  • Carefully move furniture and other items to clear work areas, ensuring no damage to client property.
  • Clean and prepare subfloors, including scraping, sweeping, and vacuuming, to ensure a smooth and clean surface for new installations.
  • Properly dispose of all removed materials and debris according to company and local regulations.
  • Assist with other general labor tasks as needed on renovation sites.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Required Skills

  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive, 'can-do' attitude.
  • Reliable and punctual, with consistent attendance.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures or willingness to learn quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in demolition, construction, or general labor (an asset but not required).
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Experience using basic hand and power tools for demolition (e.g., utility knives, pry bars, floor scrapers).
