Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our dynamic mental health team based in Coventry. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention for individuals experiencing complex mental health difficulties. You will work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, contributing to comprehensive care plans and promoting psychological understanding across services. The post holder will hold a significant caseload, engage in service development initiatives, and offer supervision and consultation to other professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct specialist psychological assessments, including neuro-psychological assessments where appropriate, formulating robust psychological understandings of complex presentations.
- Deliver evidence-based psychological interventions to individuals, groups, and families, tailored to meet their unique needs and goals.
- Provide expert consultation and supervision to colleagues, including junior psychologists, trainees, and other mental health professionals.
- Contribute to multi-disciplinary team meetings, offering psychological perspectives and insights to inform care planning and risk management.
- Participate in service evaluation, audit, and research activities to enhance the quality and effectiveness of psychological services.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and timely clinical records in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
- Engage in continuous professional development, attending relevant training and supervision to uphold clinical excellence and maintain HCPC registration.
Required Skills
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Clinical Psychologist.
- Demonstrable post-qualification experience working with adults experiencing complex mental health difficulties.
- Proficiency in administering and interpreting a range of psychological assessment tools.
- Expertise in delivering evidence-based psychological therapies (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT, psychodynamic approaches).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively and prioritise tasks under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialist training or experience in a specific therapeutic modality (e.g., EMDR, CAT).
- Experience of supervising junior psychologists or other healthcare professionals.
- Involvement in service development or quality improvement projects.
- Experience working within an NHS setting or similar public healthcare system.
- Demonstrated commitment to research and audit.
