Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Commercial Bakery Delivery Driver to join our Grand Rapids team. This full-time position involves early morning routes, delivering freshly baked goods to our diverse clientele. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and safe deliveries, maintaining product quality during transit, and providing excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities
- Operate delivery vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Load and unload bakery products carefully, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Verify accuracy of orders against delivery manifests before leaving the warehouse and at each delivery point.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and obtain necessary signatures upon delivery.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines during all stages of transport.
- Navigate routes efficiently, utilizing GPS and local knowledge to ensure timely deliveries.
- Represent Gordon Food Service professionally at all times.
- Manage unexpected delays or issues gracefully and communicate them to relevant parties.
Required Skills
- Valid Michigan Driver's License (Chauffeur's endorsement preferred or ability to obtain one).
- Clean driving record for the past 3 years.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong customer service and communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work early morning shifts, including weekends and holidays if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in commercial delivery or route driving.
- Familiarity with Grand Rapids and surrounding West Michigan areas.
- Experience with refrigerated vehicles or food product delivery.
- High School Diploma or GED.
