Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Commercial Landscaping Crew Leader to join our team in Inverness. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a passion for horticulture and outdoor work who is ready to take the next step in their career. You will be responsible for leading a small team in delivering high-quality grounds maintenance services to various commercial properties across the Inverness area. This role requires immediate availability and a strong work ethic, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and to the client’s satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a small team of landscaping operatives on daily assignments.
- Execute and oversee all aspects of commercial grounds maintenance, including mowing, strimming, pruning, weeding, hedge cutting, and planting.
- Operate and maintain a variety of landscaping equipment and machinery safely and effectively.
- Ensure all work is carried out to the highest quality standards and within agreed timescales.
- Conduct site inspections to identify issues and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide on-site training and guidance to team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and team members.
- Complete daily paperwork, including job sheets, safety checklists, and time records.
- Perform routine vehicle and equipment checks, reporting any faults or maintenance requirements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in commercial landscaping or grounds maintenance.
- Demonstrable leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team.
- Proficiency in operating various landscaping machinery (e.g., mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers).
- Full UK driving license with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Excellent knowledge of health and safety practices relevant to grounds maintenance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture or equivalent.
- PA1/PA6 certification for pesticide application.
- NPTC certification in relevant machinery operations.
- Previous experience as a Crew Leader or Supervisor.
- Basic first aid certification.
