Job Description
Are you passionate about making a tangible difference in people’s lives? Anglicare Southern Queensland is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Care Offsider to join our team in Mount Isa. This rewarding role involves providing essential support and companionship to clients in their homes and communities, enabling them to maintain independence and enhance their quality of life. As a Community Care Offsider, you will travel within Mount Isa and surrounding areas, assisting clients with various daily tasks and activities. Full training will be provided to ensure you have the skills and confidence to excel in this vital role.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance, including showering, dressing, and grooming, respecting client dignity and privacy.
- Assist clients with light household tasks such as meal preparation, tidying, and laundry.
- Facilitate client transport to appointments, social outings, and community activities.
- Offer companionship and emotional support, engaging clients in meaningful conversations and activities.
- Monitor and report changes in clients' health or well-being to the care coordinator.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of services provided and client interactions.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, client care plans, and organisational policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Valid Australian Driver's License and reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and initiative.
- Sound organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- A strong commitment to person-centred care and respecting client choices.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to pass a national police check and provide a Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or willingness to obtain.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability or Home and Community Care).
- Previous experience in a care-giving role, either paid or voluntary.
- Familiarity with the Mount Isa community and local resources.
