Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Compensation & Benefits / Rewards Manager to join our Human Capital team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This is a critical role responsible for the design, development, and implementation of our compensation and benefits programs to attract, retain, and motivate top talent across our Canadian operations. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of market trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices in total rewards. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of competitive compensation structures, including base pay, variable pay, and incentive programs.
- Manage the annual salary review process, including market benchmarking, salary survey participation, and budget recommendations.
- Oversee the administration of all benefits programs, including health, dental, pension, and wellness initiatives.
- Conduct regular market analysis to ensure the company's total rewards package remains competitive and aligned with business strategy.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive communication plans for compensation and benefits programs to employees and management.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant compensation and benefits legislation and regulations.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to HR business partners and leadership on compensation and benefits related matters.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of current programs and recommend improvements.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, and brokers.
- Mentor and develop junior team members.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in compensation and benefits management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights.
- Proven ability to design, implement, and manage complex total rewards programs.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Expert knowledge of compensation and benefits best practices, trends, and legal compliance.
- Proficiency in HRIS and compensation management software.
- Advanced Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation.
- Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience working in a large, complex, or global organization.
- Experience with international compensation and benefits practices.
