Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Optometrist to join our established practice in Kelowna, British Columbia. This is a unique opportunity for internationally trained Optometrists, as we offer comprehensive visa sponsorship to support your relocation and integration into the Canadian healthcare system. You will be responsible for providing primary eye care, conducting comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing and treating ocular diseases, and prescribing corrective lenses. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including refractions, visual field tests, and anterior/posterior segment evaluations.
- Diagnose and manage ocular diseases and conditions, providing appropriate treatment plans.
- Prescribe and fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision correction devices.
- Educate patients on proper eye care, contact lens handling, and the benefits of various eyewear options.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with optical staff to ensure seamless patient experience and eyewear dispensing.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with advancements in optometry.
- Adhere to all provincial and federal regulations governing optometric practice in British Columbia.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Eligibility for licensure as an Optometrist in British Columbia, Canada.
- Proficiency in performing comprehensive eye examinations and diagnosing ocular conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Commitment to ethical practice and patient confidentiality.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in an optical retail setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Experience with advanced diagnostic equipment (e.g., OCT, retinal cameras).
- Multilingual abilities, particularly in languages common in the local community.
