Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Crane Operator to join our dynamic team in Kendal, Cumbria. This role is crucial to the successful execution of our infrastructure projects, requiring precision, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of crane operations. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate various types of cranes (e.g., mobile cranes, tower cranes) to lift, move, and position materials and equipment.
- Conduct pre-operational checks and daily inspections on cranes to ensure safe working conditions.
- Adhere strictly to all site safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Communicate effectively with ground crews, riggers, and project managers using hand signals, radios, or other communication systems.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as required, reporting any significant issues to maintenance staff.
- Assist with rigging and unrigging loads as needed, ensuring proper load securement.
Required Skills
- Valid CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) A60 or equivalent certification for relevant crane types.
- Proven experience operating cranes on construction sites.
- Strong understanding of load charts, lifting plans, and site safety protocols.
- Excellent spatial awareness and coordination.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions diligently.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Plant Operations (Cranes and Specialist Lifting Equipment) or equivalent.
- Experience with specific crane types, such as crawler cranes or overhead cranes.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor equipment issues.
- First Aid certification.
