Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Crane Operator to join our dynamic team in Kendal, Cumbria. This role is crucial to the successful execution of our infrastructure projects, requiring precision, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of crane operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate various types of cranes (e.g., mobile cranes, tower cranes) to lift, move, and position materials and equipment.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks and daily inspections on cranes to ensure safe working conditions.
  • Adhere strictly to all site safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with ground crews, riggers, and project managers using hand signals, radios, or other communication systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as required, reporting any significant issues to maintenance staff.
  • Assist with rigging and unrigging loads as needed, ensuring proper load securement.

Required Skills

  • Valid CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) A60 or equivalent certification for relevant crane types.
  • Proven experience operating cranes on construction sites.
  • Strong understanding of load charts, lifting plans, and site safety protocols.
  • Excellent spatial awareness and coordination.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions diligently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Plant Operations (Cranes and Specialist Lifting Equipment) or equivalent.
  • Experience with specific crane types, such as crawler cranes or overhead cranes.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor equipment issues.
  • First Aid certification.
