Job Description
Are you a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist looking for a new opportunity in Canada? Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing.
- Conduct thorough oral health assessments, including periodontal charting and risk assessments.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary habits, and preventative measures.
- Administer local anesthetic and nitrous oxide as per provincial regulations and individual licensure.
- Take, develop, and interpret diagnostic radiographs.
- Apply fluoride and sealants.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Collaborate with dentists and other dental professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Ensure sterilization and infection control protocols are strictly followed.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
Required Skills
- Valid Dental Hygiene diploma or degree from an accredited institution.
- Ability to obtain or possession of a valid Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in Ontario (support provided for licensing process if needed).
- Strong knowledge of dental anatomy, periodontal disease, and oral pathology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in administering local anesthesia and nitrous oxide (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Commitment to patient education and preventative care.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency with dental software and digital radiography.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a variety of dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Abeldent).
- Additional certifications in advanced dental hygiene procedures.
- Previous experience working in a Canadian dental setting (though not required for sponsorship candidates).
- Bilingualism (English and another language commonly spoken in the community).
