Job Description

Peel Public Health is seeking a motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Trainee Addiction Counselor. This entry-level position is designed for individuals with no prior experience in addiction counseling, offering comprehensive training and mentorship to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to support individuals on their journey to recovery. You will work under the guidance of experienced counselors, contributing to vital public health initiatives aimed at addressing substance use challenges in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all provided training programs and workshops related to addiction counseling and public health.
- Assist senior counselors in the delivery of support services, client intake processes, and program administration.
- Learn to conduct basic screenings and assessments under direct supervision.
- Support clients in accessing community resources, support groups, and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with organizational policies and privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement client-centered care plans.
- Contribute to the promotion of public health awareness campaigns related to substance use.
- Engage in continuous professional development and reflective practice.
