Job Description
The International Council for Diplomacy (ICD) is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Diplomacy & Foreign Affairs Intern to join our dynamic team in Montreal. This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the non-governmental organization (NGO) sector, working directly on projects related to international relations, policy analysis, and diplomatic outreach. The intern will support our research, communication, and administrative efforts, contributing to impactful initiatives that shape global discourse.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in research and analysis on international current events, foreign policy, and diplomatic issues relevant to ICD's mission.
- Draft reports, briefings, and summaries of key diplomatic discussions and policy developments.
- Support the coordination of events, workshops, and conferences related to diplomacy and international affairs.
- Contribute to the development of communication materials, including website content, social media posts, and newsletters.
- Provide administrative support to the team, including scheduling, data entry, and document organization.
- Attend relevant meetings and seminars, taking notes and reporting back to the team.
- Engage with stakeholders and partners under supervision, representing ICD's values and objectives.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in International Relations, Political Science, Diplomacy, Global Studies, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in international affairs, human rights, and NGO work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French (bilingualism highly preferred for Montreal).
- Strong research and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of professionalism and discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous volunteer experience with an NGO or international organization.
- Familiarity with diplomatic protocols or international law concepts.
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to international relations (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin).
- Experience with content management systems or social media platforms.
