Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Endoscopy Nurse to join our dynamic team in Kilmarnock. This is an exciting opportunity for both UK-based and international registered nurses looking to specialize or further their career in endoscopy. As an Endoscopy Nurse, you will be integral to providing high-quality care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist medical staff during a variety of endoscopic procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Prepare and maintain endoscopy equipment, ensuring sterility and functionality.
  • Monitor patients pre, intra, and post-procedure, reporting any changes in condition.
  • Provide clear and compassionate pre-procedure information and post-procedure care instructions to patients and their families.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to all clinical guidelines and protocols.

Required Skills

  • Valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration or eligibility for registration in the UK.
  • Minimum of 2 years post-registration nursing experience in an acute care setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an endoscopy unit or theatre setting.
  • Post-basic qualification in endoscopy nursing.
  • Knowledge of decontamination and sterilization processes for endoscopic equipment.
  • Experience with electronic patient record systems.
