Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our vibrant and successful English department. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English Language and Literature across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, inspiring students with a love for the subject and helping them to achieve their full potential. This role requires excellent subject knowledge, strong classroom management skills, and a commitment to creating an inclusive and stimulating learning environment. You will be part of a collaborative team that is committed to innovative teaching practices and student success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging English lessons to students across all key stages.
  • Assess, monitor, record, and report on the learning and achievement of students, maintaining accurate records.
  • Develop and adapt schemes of work and lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Contribute to the development of the English department's curriculum and extra-curricular activities.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, parents' evenings, and whole-school events.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and well-disciplined classroom environment.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere that promotes student engagement and achievement.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students to support their progress and development.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
  • A degree in English Literature, English Language, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrable experience teaching English at secondary level (KS3, KS4, and ideally KS5).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong classroom management abilities.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in English or Education.
  • Experience with a variety of teaching methodologies and educational technologies.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in English education.
  • Experience in curriculum development or leadership roles within an English department.
