Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Equine Medicine & Rehab Intern to join our dynamic team. This entry-level internship offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience and invaluable knowledge in a leading university veterinary hospital setting. The successful candidate will work closely with board-certified specialists, residents, and licensed veterinary technicians, participating in the daily operations of our Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation service. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and technicians with equine patient examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Support rehabilitation therapies, including hydrotherapy, therapeutic exercises, and modality application.
  • Help with patient intake, discharge, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Prepare examination rooms, surgical suites, and treatment areas.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and recovery post-procedure.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the equine facilities.
  • Observe advanced diagnostic imaging (radiography, ultrasound, MRI) and lameness evaluations.
  • Participate in daily rounds and educational discussions.

  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs and performing physical tasks required in an equine environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrollment in or recent graduation from a veterinary technician program, pre-vet program, or related animal science field.
  • Previous experience working with horses (e.g., barn assistant, volunteer, personal ownership).
  • Basic knowledge of equine anatomy and physiology.
