Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Equine Veterinarian/Surgeon to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be involved in both general equine practice and advanced surgical procedures, working with a diverse caseload. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and emergency surgical procedures on equine patients.
- Conduct comprehensive lameness examinations and provide diagnostic imaging services (radiography, ultrasound, MRI).
- Manage a caseload of internal medicine, preventative care, and reproductive services.
- Provide expert consultation to horse owners on health, nutrition, and welfare.
- Participate in on-call rotations for emergency services.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
- Collaborate effectively with veterinary technicians, support staff, and other veterinarians.
- Contribute to ongoing professional development and clinic improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent.
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Veterinarians of British Columbia (CVBC).
- Proven experience in equine surgery and general equine practice.
- Demonstrated ability to perform advanced diagnostic imaging.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification or eligibility for ACVS (American College of Veterinary Surgeons) or ECVS (European College of Veterinary Surgeons).
- Experience with advanced equine dentistry.
- Proficiency in equine sports medicine.
- Prior experience in a referral hospital setting.
- Bilingualism (English and French or other relevant languages).
