Job Description
Are you passionate about economic policy and eager to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic research environment? Deloitte’s Economic Advisory team in Manchester is offering an exciting internship opportunity for an Economics Research Intern. This role is designed for individuals who are keen to develop their research skills, contribute to real-world policy analysis, and understand the practical application of economic theory within a leading professional services firm that often acts as a de facto think tank for various sectors. You will support senior economists and policy experts on projects ranging from regional economic development to sector-specific policy impacts, gaining invaluable exposure to the intersection of economics, business, and public policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior researchers in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting economic data.
- Conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings on various economic topics and policy issues.
- Prepare research briefs, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the development of economic models and analytical frameworks.
- Contribute to ongoing thought leadership initiatives and policy white papers.
- Participate in team meetings and client discussions, offering insights and learning from expert perspectives.
- Maintain and organize research databases and documentation.
Required Skills
- Strong academic background in Economics, Econometrics, Public Policy, or a related quantitative field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in economic policy and current affairs.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with statistical software packages (e.g., Stata, R, Python, SAS).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Previous involvement in academic research projects or case competitions.
- Enrollment in a Master's or PhD program in Economics or related field.
