Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Estimator to join our dynamic team in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of construction projects, ensuring we remain at the forefront of the industry. This is a crucial role within our project delivery cycle, requiring a keen eye for detail and a comprehensive understanding of construction processes and costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for tenders and proposals.
  • Review and analyze project plans, specifications, drawings, and other documentation to determine scope of work and required resources.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and suppliers to gather necessary information.
  • Identify potential risks, opportunities, and value engineering options to optimize project costs.
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors, soliciting competitive bids.
  • Present detailed estimates to senior management and clients, clearly articulating cost breakdowns.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, industry regulations, and client specific requirements.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure estimates are current and competitive.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as an Estimator within the construction industry.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard estimation software (e.g., Candy, Causeway, Bluebeam).
  • Excellent understanding of construction methods, materials, and associated labor costs.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and contract documents.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., RICS, CIOB) or working towards one.
  • Experience with large-scale commercial, infrastructure, or public sector projects.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations specific to Nottinghamshire.
  • A valid UK driving license.
