Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Fire Engineer to join our Building Safety team in Perth. This entry-level position is perfect for recent graduates or individuals with limited professional experience who are eager to start their career in fire safety engineering. You will be provided with comprehensive training and mentorship from our experienced engineers, gaining practical experience in fire safety design, analysis, and compliance. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant building projects, ensuring public safety and regulatory adherence. Full training will be provided to help you develop into a competent and confident Fire Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior fire engineers with the preparation of fire safety design reports and documentation.
  • Conduct research into relevant building codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NCC, AS standards).
  • Support the development of fire protection system designs (e.g., sprinklers, smoke control, fire alarms).
  • Participate in site visits and inspections to observe fire safety installations and compliance.
  • Prepare simple fire engineering calculations under supervision.
  • Collaborate with architects, building owners, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
  • Continuously learn and apply new fire safety engineering principles and technologies.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the National Construction Code (NCC) and Australian Standards related to fire safety (desirable, but not essential as training will be provided).
  • Previous internship or academic project experience in a related engineering field.
  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD or other design software.
