Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Skilled Foundry Worker to join our team in Burleigh Heads. This role requires a proficient individual capable of operating various foundry equipment, performing skilled casting processes, and ensuring high-quality metal products. You will be instrumental in the production cycle, from mould preparation to final product finishing, adhering strictly to safety protocols and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain a variety of foundry equipment including melting furnaces, moulding machines, and core-making machinery.
- Prepare moulds and cores using sand, resin, and other materials.
- Perform accurate pouring of molten metal into moulds, ensuring proper temperature and flow.
- Monitor casting processes, identify and resolve issues, and ensure product quality.
- Demould, clean, and finish castings, including grinding, chipping, and shot blasting.
- Inspect finished products for defects and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Assist with material handling, equipment setup, and general workshop duties.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a clean and organised work area.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Foundry Worker or similar industrial metal casting role.
- Proven ability to operate melting furnaces and perform controlled pouring of molten metals.
- Strong understanding of various moulding techniques (sand casting, shell moulding, etc.).
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools for finishing and fettling castings.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality control.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials and work in a demanding environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade qualification in Foundry Operations, Fabrication, or a related field.
- Forklift licence.
- Experience with induction furnaces and different alloy types.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
