Job Description
Join the vibrant team at Novotel Newcastle Beach as a Function Waiter for casual weekend shifts, with a strong focus on the upcoming wedding season. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about hospitality, eager to deliver outstanding service, and thrive in a fast-paced event setting. You will be instrumental in creating unforgettable experiences for our guests, serving a variety of food and beverage options at special events, banquets, and particularly wedding receptions.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and clear function rooms according to event specifications
- Serve food and beverages efficiently and courteously to guests
- Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly and professionally to requests
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards of all service areas
- Assist with event close-down procedures, including cleaning and restocking
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen and events team to ensure smooth service
Required Skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and presentation
- Reliable and punctual, with availability for weekend shifts
- Ability to carry trays and stand for extended periods
- Basic understanding of food and beverage service principles
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant, or event catering environment (6+ months)
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate
- Knowledge of different types of service (e.g., plated, buffet)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
