Job Description
Are you a passionate and skilled Geotechnical Engineer seeking a challenging opportunity in Canada? AECOM is actively seeking a talented individual to join our dynamic team in New Westminster, British Columbia. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, stability, and longevity of our projects, working alongside multidisciplinary teams in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct geotechnical investigations, including field exploration, sampling, and laboratory testing supervision.
- Perform geotechnical analysis and design for foundations, retaining walls, slopes, and other civil structures.
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and specifications for various projects.
- Provide construction-phase support, including site inspections and review of contractor submittals.
- Collaborate with project managers, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate geotechnical aspects into overall project design.
- Utilize geotechnical software for analysis and design.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to the professional development of the team.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration in British Columbia, Canada
- Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in geotechnical engineering
- Demonstrated experience in geotechnical site investigations, analysis, and design
- Proficiency with geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, WALLAP)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of Canadian geotechnical codes and standards is an asset
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering
- Experience with seismic design and liquefaction analysis
- Experience in a consulting environment
- Familiarity with local geology in British Columbia
- Project management experience
