Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and physically capable Geothermal Drilling Assistant (Mate) to join our dynamic team in South Burlington, VT. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy hands-on manual labor, working outdoors in various weather conditions, and are eager to learn the geothermal drilling trade. As a Drilling Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our drilling operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality throughout the project lifecycle. This position offers excellent pay for dedicated individuals who are ready to work hard and contribute to sustainable energy infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lead driller with all aspects of geothermal drilling operations.
- Perform manual labor tasks including lifting, carrying, digging, and material handling.
- Prepare drill sites, including setting up and breaking down equipment.
- Handle, connect, and disconnect drill rods, casing, and other drilling tools.
- Operate various hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment on the drill site.
- Conduct routine equipment checks and basic maintenance.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Assist with mixing and handling drilling fluids and grout.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous manual labor for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and willingness to learn more.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction, landscaping, general labor, or similar outdoor physical work.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or experience with tools and machinery.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience operating forklifts, skid steers, or other heavy equipment.
