Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Government Cashier / Teller. This is a critical public-facing role responsible for processing a variety of financial transactions accurately and securely for the citizens of Bend. You will play an essential part in our municipal operations, handling payments, issuing receipts, and providing direct customer service with a high degree of integrity and professionalism. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and security in all financial dealings. Full training will be provided to ensure success in this secure and vital role.
Key Responsibilities
- Process cash, check, and credit card payments for various city services and fees (e.g., utility bills, permits, licenses, fines).
- Accurately balance cash drawer at the end of each shift and prepare daily deposit reports.
- Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service to the public, answering inquiries related to payments and city services.
- Issue official receipts and maintain precise transaction records.
- Adhere strictly to all financial policies, procedures, and security protocols.
- Assist with basic administrative tasks as needed to support departmental operations.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in transactions or refer complex issues to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work environment.
Required Skills
- Strong numerical aptitude and basic math skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in cash handling, retail, or a banking environment.
