Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Grant Writer to join our team, working remotely to support our vital community sector programs across Australia. This is a unique opportunity to contribute directly to our mission by securing funding that enables us to deliver life-changing services. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, writing, and submitting compelling grant proposals to various funding bodies, foundations, and government agencies. You will play a crucial role in articulating the impact of our work and ensuring we have the resources needed to continue supporting vulnerable individuals and communities. This 100% remote position offers flexibility and the chance to make a significant difference from anywhere within Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and research potential grant opportunities from various sources (government, corporate, private foundations).
  • Develop and write clear, concise, and persuasive grant proposals, applications, and reports in line with funder guidelines.
  • Collaborate with program managers and team members to gather necessary information, data, and stories for grant submissions.
  • Manage a grants calendar, ensuring timely submission of proposals and reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of all grant activities, including applications, awards, and declines.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with funding partners and stakeholders.
  • Monitor grant outcomes and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of fundraising strategies and initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in grant writing, ideally within the community or not-for-profit sector.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to tell compelling stories.
  • Excellent research and analytical abilities to identify suitable funding opportunities.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the funding landscape for social services in Australia.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience with CRM systems and grant management software.
  • Familiarity with various funding models and philanthropic trends.
  • Prior experience working with vulnerable populations or in social impact initiatives.
