Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Heavy Rigging Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Maidenhead. This role involves overseeing complex heavy lifting and rigging operations for large-scale infrastructure projects across the UK. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely execution of all rigging activities, adhering to the highest standards of safety and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, and execute all heavy rigging and lifting operations in accordance with project specifications, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct site surveys and risk assessments for all lifting activities, developing and implementing detailed lift plans.
- Lead and manage rigging crews, providing clear instructions, training, and performance feedback.
- Ensure all rigging equipment is properly inspected, maintained, and certified for use.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to coordinate rigging activities with overall project schedules.
- Monitor site safety continuously, identifying and mitigating potential hazards, and promoting a strong safety culture.
- Maintain accurate records of rigging operations, equipment usage, and safety incidents.
- Implement and enforce all relevant health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Oversee the secure storage and transport of rigging gear.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members on complex rigging challenges.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Heavy Rigging Supervisor or a similar leadership role in heavy lifting operations.
- Demonstrable knowledge of various rigging techniques, equipment, and load calculations.
- Strong understanding of relevant health and safety legislation and industry best practices (e.g., LOLER, PUWER).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and lift plans.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and developing safe systems of work.
- Valid rigging certifications (e.g., LEEA, CPCS Crane Supervisor/Slinger Signaller or equivalent international certification).
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering or construction discipline.
- Experience with specialized heavy lift equipment (e.g., strand jacks, gantry systems).
- First Aid certification.
- Fluency in multiple languages is a plus, though not required.
