Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and thorough Hospital Cleaner (Environmental Services Technician) to join our team in Hoover, Alabama. This full-time position comes with comprehensive benefits and plays a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation within our medical facility. You will be responsible for ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and staff, directly contributing to infection control and the overall patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, common areas, offices, and clinical spaces following established protocols.
- Empty waste receptacles and properly dispose of medical and general waste.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, ensuring adequate supplies are available.
- Dust, mop, vacuum, and sweep floors using appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions.
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, including doorknobs, light switches, and handrails.
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, safety guidelines, and infection control procedures.
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to supervision promptly.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with patients, visitors, and staff.
Required Skills
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 25 lbs), and push/pull carts for extended periods.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in environmental services or cleaning, preferably in a healthcare setting (6+ months).
- Familiarity with hospital-grade cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy.
