Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Industrial Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team in Wigan. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects, developing and implementing automation solutions for a variety of industrial applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, and industrial networking. We value innovation, problem-solving, and a commitment to quality. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement industrial automation solutions, including PLC programming (Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, etc.), HMI/SCADA systems, and industrial communication networks.
  • Perform system integration, testing, and commissioning of automation systems on-site and remotely.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex technical issues related to automation hardware and software.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including specifications, functional design specifications (FDS), and user manuals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide technical support and training to clients and internal staff.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices in industrial automation.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens S7/TIA Portal, Rockwell Automation ControlLogix/Studio 5000).
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA development (e.g., WinCC, FactoryTalk View, Wonderware InTouch).
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP).
  • Knowledge of electrical control systems and panel design.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience with Robotic Automation (e.g., KUKA, ABB, Fanuc).
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 13849).
  • Project management experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience with cloud-based industrial IoT solutions.
