Job Description

Nuffield Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist specializing in pediatrics to join our multidisciplinary team in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to make a significant impact on the lives of children and their families. You will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating a diverse range of pediatric conditions, helping children achieve their developmental milestones and participate fully in daily life. You will work closely with other healthcare professionals, parents, and educators to create individualized treatment plans and provide comprehensive therapy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for pediatric clients with a variety of developmental, physical, and sensory challenges.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on improving motor skills, sensory processing, cognitive functions, and daily living activities.
  • Provide direct therapy services in one-on-one and group settings, utilizing evidence-based practices and creative therapeutic interventions.
  • Educate parents, caregivers, and other professionals on therapeutic strategies and home programs to support children's progress.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team including physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and pediatricians.
  • Maintain accurate and timely client records, including assessment reports, treatment notes, and progress reports.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.

Required Skills

  • BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent internationally recognized qualification).
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or eligibility to register for international applicants.
  • Demonstrable experience working as an Occupational Therapist, preferably with some exposure to pediatric caseloads.
  • Strong understanding of child development, pediatric conditions, and occupational therapy principles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate certification or specialization in Pediatric Occupational Therapy.
  • Experience with specific assessment tools and intervention techniques (e.g., sensory integration, DIRFloortime).
  • Experience working in a private practice or charity healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in additional languages relevant to Manchester's diverse community.
