Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Industrial Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team in Gloucester. This role is crucial for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions across our manufacturing processes. You will be instrumental in enhancing efficiency, reliability, and safety through cutting-edge control systems and robotics. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement industrial control systems including PLCs, SCADA, and HMI applications.
- Program and configure industrial robots, servo drives, and other automation equipment.
- Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, programming logic, and operational manuals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, maintenance, IT) to define project requirements and deliver integrated solutions.
- Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel on new and existing automation systems.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices in industrial automation.
- Participate in project planning, estimation, and execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations in all automation designs and implementations.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Mitsubishi GX Works).
- Experience with SCADA and HMI development (e.g., WinCC, FactoryTalk View, Wonderware InTouch).
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP).
- Familiarity with industrial control panel design and electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of sensor technologies, motor control, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with industrial robotics (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA).
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Python, C#) for automation applications.
- Experience with database integration (SQL) for data acquisition and reporting.
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts and IoT solutions.
- Professional engineering certification (e.g., CEng).
