Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Information Governance Lead to join our Corporate Governance team in Albury. In this critical role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust information governance frameworks, policies, and procedures across the organization. You will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, manage information risks, and drive best practices in data management and privacy. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership abilities and a comprehensive understanding of information lifecycle management within a large corporate environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive information governance strategy and framework aligned with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the establishment and enforcement of information governance policies, standards, and procedures across various business units.
- Manage and mitigate information-related risks, including data breaches, privacy violations, and non-compliance issues.
- Oversee the information lifecycle management, including creation, storage, use, retention, and disposition of corporate data.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, IT, and business stakeholders to ensure information governance policies are understood and adopted.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of information governance practices to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on information governance matters, including data privacy (e.g., APPs, GDPR where applicable), records management, and data quality.
- Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness and educate employees on information governance principles and best practices.
- Stay abreast of evolving information governance trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
- Report on information governance performance and risks to senior management and relevant committees.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in information governance, data management, records management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of information governance principles, frameworks, and best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing information governance policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of relevant Australian regulatory requirements pertaining to information management, data privacy (e.g., Australian Privacy Principles), and records retention.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical and regulatory requirements into understandable business language.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven leadership and project management skills.
- Proficiency with information governance and records management systems/tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Business Administration, Law, or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIGO, CIP, CISM, CDMP).
- Experience working within the financial services industry.
- Familiarity with global data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) and their potential impact.
- Experience with large-scale data migration or system implementation projects.
