Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Interior Design Intern to join our dynamic team at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas. This paid internship offers an invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in commercial interior design within a luxury hospitality setting. You will work closely with our design and facilities teams, assisting with various aspects of design projects, from concept development to implementation, focusing on public spaces, guest rooms, and other commercial areas of the resort. This role is perfect for a student or recent graduate eager to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical, fast-paced environment and contribute to the elevated design standards of a world-class property.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior designers in developing design concepts and presentations for various commercial spaces within the resort.
- Source and select furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), materials, and finishes.
- Prepare design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Organize and maintain the design library, including samples and vendor catalogs.
- Participate in site visits, taking measurements and documenting existing conditions.
- Support the team with administrative tasks, project coordination, and communication with vendors.
- Contribute to mood boards, material palettes, and 3D renderings as needed.
- Research current design trends, materials, and sustainable practices relevant to luxury hospitality.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar design software.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- A passion for interior design and luxury aesthetics.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
