Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team, working within a vibrant school environment in Slough. This full-time position is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting student learning and development, particularly for those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will play a crucial role in creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere, helping students to access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. Full training and ongoing professional development opportunities will be provided for the right candidate with a genuine enthusiasm for education.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, particularly those with SEN, to help them understand and engage with learning activities.
- Assist teachers in preparing lesson materials, classroom displays, and resources tailored to individual student needs.
- Support the social and emotional development of students, fostering positive relationships and promoting good behaviour.
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and provide feedback on student progress to teachers and other relevant staff.
- Supervise students during non-classroom activities, such as lunch breaks and playground time, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
- Contribute to a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment for all students.
- Assist with personal care needs for students where required, maintaining dignity and respect.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Required Skills
- Genuine passion for working with children and young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Basic understanding of child development and learning processes (or a strong willingness to learn).
- Reliability and good time management skills.
- Right to work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an educational or childcare setting (including voluntary work).
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or a related field.
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or disabilities.
- First Aid qualification.
