Job Description
As the Meals on Wheels Coordinator, you will play a vital role in our community services department, overseeing the efficient delivery of nutritious meals to vulnerable residents across the district. This position involves coordinating drivers, managing routes, liaising with clients and their families, and ensuring the highest standards of service and care are maintained. You will be instrumental in supporting independent living and reducing social isolation for those who rely on this essential service.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily meal delivery schedules and routes for Meals on Wheels drivers.
- Manage and maintain accurate client records, including dietary requirements and delivery instructions.
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of volunteer and paid drivers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, families, and caregivers regarding meal services.
- Monitor service quality and address any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene standards.
- Collaborate with catering suppliers and other community organizations to optimize service delivery.
- Prepare regular reports on service usage, client satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
- Manage inventory of supplies and equipment related to meal delivery.
Required Skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (for occasional site visits/cover).
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to vulnerable individuals.
- Experience in coordinating logistics or community service programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar coordination or administrative role, preferably within a local government or non-profit setting.
- Knowledge of local government operations and community welfare services.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Experience with volunteer management.
